Job Description:

Cleveland Christian Home, a non-profit organization specializing in providing treatment for at-risk males ages 6-17 is seeking a Full time Residential Treatment Specialist to work one of the following shifts: 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, or 11pm-7pm. You will work directly with our high-risk youth by providing supervision and guidance in their daily living routines. Responsibilities include monitoring the children and maintaining a safe environment and implementing crisis intervention techniques when necessary.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provides care, support, attention and a positive, therapeutic atmosphere to all children in the department to which assigned

a. Maintain consistent, firm and fair relationships with all children

b. Serves as an appropriate, positive role-model

2. Provides physical and emotional security for the children through intervention, correction and re-direction of negative behavior when:

  • Behavior is damaging to self;

  • Behavior is damaging to others

  • Behavior may result in damage to property

3. Assists with managing the physical needs of the children including health, hygiene, and physical comfort (food/clothing/shelter)

4. Maintains an active interest in and an awareness of the whereabouts and activities of each assigned child at all times while on duty

5. Assists with maintaining an approach/program that is in compliance with the individual treatment plan;

a. Assists with maintaining agency philosophy, policies

6. Serves as an integral member of the treatment team

7. Provides formal and informal reports on behavior, attitude and general disposition of assigned children, including:

a. Incident Reports, restraint remediation sheets, time-out reports

b. Department logs

c. Behavior Rating Scales

d. Primary sheets

8. Attends conferences and meetings

9. Participates in the planning, supervision and provision of therapeutic and recreational activities

10. Transports children as necessary including, but not limited to medical appointments, activities, school

11. Assists with maintaining current inventory and/or awareness of all supplies, equipment and furnishings

a. Reports repairs as necessary

12. Assists with household duties

13. Attend training to meet licensing requirements

14. Understand that the agency reserves the right to mandate overtime as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; additional education and/or training desirable

  • A minimum of one (1) year experience working with at-risk youth in a residential environment.


Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to physically restrain clients of varying age/height/weight.

  • Successful completion of all required pre-hire tests and proof of current TB test upon hire.

  • A valid Driver's License, appropriate driving record with appropriate insurance coverage

  • Must be able to work one of the following shifts: 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, or 11pm-7pm.
