If you thrive in an environment of dealing with fundraisers and managing multi-year, six- and seven-figure partnerships through solicitations, renewals, and donor reporting, this is an exciting opportunity to join our team!

As a member of the Partnerships team, the Principal Associate will collaborate closely with fundraisers on the Partnerships team to gather, compile, and submit donor facing information.

Your responsibilities would include:
 
  • Assessing, refining, and improving current processes around proposal submission, reporting, and administration to deliver on effective timelines and a seamless donor experience
  • Ensuring appropriate monitoring , tracking and analysis of all required information to support organizational goals and meet funder needs.
     


The ideal candidate will have a passion for scaling Pew's impact through a partnership strategy that advances our research and fact-based recommendations through collaborations, co-investments, and fundraising. This includes identifying , cultivating, soliciting , and stewarding individual and foundation prospects and donors.

As the Partnerships team, the Principal Associate will report to the director, Foundation Relations, and is key to providing best -in-class donor experience. This position is located in Pew's Washington, DC office, and is eligible for up to 60% telework .

Responsibilities
 
  • Proactively work with Foundation Relations fundraisers to manage their portfolio of prospects and donors.
  • Assist with proposal development and submission including preparing and organizing materials for proposals. Submit and monitor grant applications.
  • Coordinate review and approval of materials and ensure that all required information is gathered, and proper formatting is followed. Ensure delivery within deadlines and adherence to best practices.
  • Coordinate with Program teams and fundraisers to establish regular communications and flow of information on new partnerships.
 
  • Manage online proposal system submissions, including translating proposal forms to usable working documents for fundraiser and program collaboration.
  • Ensure concept notes, letters of intent, and grant proposals are submitted according to deadlines in the format requested , including submitting any required Pew organizational documentation.
  • Coordinate solicitation materials to ensure delivery within deadlines and adherence to best practices.
  • Coordinate with fundraisers and the operations team on regular reports for donors and partners including:
 
  • Ensuring reporting is accurate and aligns with donors' guidance and restrictions.
 
  • Creating narrative reports that clearly describe the completed work and any required metrics/milestones.
  • Submitting reports according to deadlines and requirements listed in the agreements.
 
  • Prioritize multiple deadline-driven projects to keep projects moving, meet deadlines, and manage the collection of supplemental materials.
  • Provide support and participate in other special projects and duties, as assigned.


Essential Skills and Abilities
 
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required , and a minimum of 6 years of experience, with at least two years proposal management, grants management, financial/budget administration, or fundraising administration experience ( e xperience working in a large, nonprofit or foundation environment is a plus ) .
  • Excellent strategic and problem-solving skills. A strong commitment to producing measurable results. Discretion in handling and securing confidential information
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and move projects forward by maintaining a high level of organization .
 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong presentation and facilitation abilities to present ideas and concepts clearly.
  • Excellent listening and interpersonal skills; able to develop and manage relationships with internal colleagues to ensure successful collaboration on large-scale projects.
  • Seasoned judgment, able to make decisions, justify recommendations, and be responsive and clear with colleagues.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated proficiency in the use of software (Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and the ability to learn technology used at Pew, including Salesforce and PeopleSoft if not already familiar.
