Executive Director
Illinois Independent Living Center, Inc. (IILC)
Illinois Independent Living Center, Inc. (IILC) is a not for profit corporation that manages Katharine Manor Condominiums, a 32-unit barrier free condominium complex in Naperville, Illinois serving mobility impaired adults, and offers homemaker services to residents of Katharine Manor.  
The Executive Director is IILC’s key management leader, responsible for overseeing the administration, programs and strategic plan of the organization. The position is Full Time and reports directly to the Board of Directors.
General Responsibilities:
1) Governance: Works with the Board in order to fulfill the organization’s mission.
  • Responsible for leading IILC in a manner that supports the organization’s mission to provide a high-quality independent living environment for mobility impaired adults.
  • Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.
2) Financial Performance: Manages resources to ensure the financial health of the organization.
  • Responsible for the fiscal integrity of IILC, to include submission to the Board of a proposed annual budget and quarterly financial statements that accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization.
  • Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.
3) Organization Operations and Strategy: Works with the Board and staff to ensure proper building operations and an effective homemaker program and to develop and implement the organization’s strategic plan.
  • Responsible for overseeing building management
  • Responsible for operation of the homemaker program.
  • Responsible for strategic planning to ensure that IILC can successfully fulfill its mission into the future.
4) Organization Operations. Ensures that the operations of the organization are appropriate.
  • Responsible for the hiring and retention of qualified staff.
  • Responsible for retaining third party contractors.
  • Responsible for leasing IILC controlled units to mobility impaired adults.
  • Responsible for compliance with program guidelines.
Day-to-Day Job Activities:
  • Planning and adherence to annual budget.
  • Overseeing the proper maintenance and repair of the Katharine Manor complex.
  • Overseeing the homemaker program to insure quality service to residents and timely and accurate billing to government agencies and residents for services provided.
  • Managing the leasing of IILC controlled condominium units to mobility impaired adults.
  • Serving as a public spokesperson and advocate for IILC.
  • Reporting to and working closely with the Board to seek their involvement in policy decisions and to increase the overall visibility of IILC.
  • Supervising and collaborating with organization staff.
  • Reviewing and approving contracts for services.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Board.

Job Requirements:

Professional Qualifications:
  • At least four years of experience in social services or in a health agency.
  • Solid, hands-on, budget management skills, including budget preparation and reporting.
  • Ability to use accounting software programs.
  • Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, and task facilitation.
  • Commitment to improve the quality of life for mobility impaired adults.
  • Ability to interface and engage residents, Board members, and diverse volunteer and donor groups.
  • Ability to oversee and collaborate with staff.
  • Nonprofit management experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state government programs providing financial assistance for housing and care needs of mobility impaired adults preferred.
  • Building management skills preferred.
