Job Description:

The North Carolina Justice Center, is seeking a full-time Human Resource Assistant to provide administrative support to the day-to-day human resource operations.  The HR Assistant will work in collaboration with our Deputy Director for Human Resources.
The North Carolina Justice Center is the state’s leading research and advocacy organization dedicated to transforming North Carolina’s prosperity into opportunity for all.  Our organization comprises of projects that provide in-depth expertise on seven major policy areas.  Our staff of researchers, community educators, litigators, public policy advocates, and communications specialists use our unique five-strategy approach to improve the lives of North Carolinians with low incomes.
This important position provides broad administrative support, including general clerical work, filing, and copying; confidential administrative support; maintenance and processing of personnel records and reports; interaction with and supplying information to job applicants, employees, and supervisor; posting job ads and organizing resumes and job applications; scheduling job interviews and assisting in interview process; assisting with new-employee orientations; planning and overseeing employee recognition events; assisting with benefits administration; and assisting with special projects, staff training and other general office tasks as needed.

Job Requirements:

The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to social justice and enjoy contributing to a great mission by supporting the work of others. He/she will have strong administrative and/or human resource experience in a fast-paced work environment. Successful applicants will like creating order, be an office machine troubleshooting whiz, be exceptionally organized while juggling competing demands, possess unfailing attention to detail and the ability to support many different people. He/she will be proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, have experience in working with databases, strong technology skills, and event planning experience, keyboard with speed and accuracy, anticipate staff needs, and take initiative to solve problems as they occur. Ability to travel and work some evenings and weekends required.
